Naamsa has released figures for vehicle sales in South
Africa for the month of June 2012 and the results seem promising. Naamsa
reports a 15.6% improvement on the same period last year. Sales for the month
of June 2012 totalled 51 891 units while export sales rose by 7% or 1767
units.
In the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment, sales rose by
2425 units or 22.1% with sales totalling 13421 units compared to the
10 966 sales recorded in June last year.
New model introductions, low interest rates and vehicle
affordability continue to support the South African car market. The Toyota Hilux was the best selling vehicle for the month of June 2012 with 3067 units
sold. In the passenger vehicle segment, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo came out on
top again with 2633 units sold.
