Renault South Africa presents the all-guts, all-new limited
edition Renault RS Trophy 265, adding to the already notable Renault Mégane
Sport range. Offering drivers unprecedented front-wheel drive performance,
superb handling, freakishly good looks and race-inspired driving dynamics, the
RS Trophy 265 is a car worth its salt.
Powering this beautiful specimen is a reworked version of
the impressive 2.0-litre, 16-valve engine that has been tweaked to produce
195kW at 5 500rpm. A torque boost has also been made to 360Nm between 3000
and 5000rpm, made possible by a new air intake design and a higher boost
pressure of 2.5 bar. The limited edition RS trophy 265 is the first Renault to
run on the new engine but will be made available across the Renault Mégane RS Range,
including the Sport and Cup models, in the near future.
The Renault RS Trophy 265 will race to 100km/h in a measly 6
seconds while powering on to a top speed of 254km/h, pretty impressive.
Visually, the RS Trophy 265 is recognised by its ‘Red Line’ detailing and
sports a new rear lip spoiler to give it that racy punch. The RS Trophy 265
rides on 19” gloss black STEEV wheels with red piping, RS valve caps and a
numbered plaque. LED daytime running lights are incorporated into the F1-style
front blade with Xenon headlights fitted as standard.
On the inside, leather-clad Recaro bucket seats will make
you feel like a champion race car driver, while eye-catching stitching on the
upholstery, steering wheel and gear lever gaiter will impress your friends. An
innovative RS monitor is to be found in the central display and provides a
range of performance related information while you tend to your duties on the
road or racetrack, whichever you prefer.
Safety is always of importance and the Renault RS Trophy 265
is well equipped with front and side airbags, ABS brakes, ESP stability control
and ASR traction control. How much can you expect to pay for a beast of this
calibre? Well, fork out R409 900
and it’s yours, all yours, enjoy.
