BMW Mini fans might be pleased to know that the new Mini
John Cooper Works GP is going on sale. The bad news is that only 2000 of these
Mini’s will be produced and only a handful will reach South Africa in 2013. The
Mini John Cooper Works GP was unveiled at the Mini United Festival at the Le
Castellet circuit in France over the
weekend.
The exact power output of this Mini remain secret at this
point, but it’s really fast, and went around the Nürburgring's Nordschleife
circuit 19 seconds faster than the 2006 Cooper S kit car. Estimates could very
well be in the region of 160kW or more from its 1.6-litre turbo engine, so it’s
impressive.
The Mini John Cooper Works GP comes fitted with adjustable
suspension, race-spec braking system and soft racing tyres that contribute to
superb handling. The interior is distinctly inspired by motor sport and is
fitted with two sport racing seats.
Pricing and further spec details will be available in good
time, for now you can dream of driving one.
