Jaguar is preparing to unleash the Jaguar XKX concept that is inspired by the iconic E-Type Jag. However, this car is like no other, it’s electric, but features some pretty insane technology to keep those batteries fired up.
The body of the Jaguar XKX is covered in a layer of piezoelectric
cells that recharge the battery using the force of air flowing over the
bodywork, incredible? Microscopic ripples on the bodywork produce electricity
that is fed back to the battery. This means that the car can drive along the
highway while restoring 60% of its battery power while driving. The Jaguar XKX
also has large front air intakes that transmit air to the rear, drastically
reducing drag.
The small engine dimensions and battery placement have
allowed for more focus to be placed on aerodynamics. The mirrors also fold away
into the bodywork to prevent damage being incurred. The side profile is
inspired by the leaping Jaguar logo while the headlight design gives the Jaguar
XKX a somewhat aggressive feline feel.
Although exceptionally innovative, it’s unlikely that we
will see this cat on the roads. The technology used on the Jaguar XKX certainly
pushes the boundaries of what is possible on an electric car and we may very
well see this technology adopted in the future.
