Two Jaguar 2.2-litre diesel XF’s departed from Pretoria on
Sunday, 1 July 2012 with the aim to return from Durban on a single tank of
fuel. Both Jaguar XF’s completed 1 265.8km over two days with fuel
consumption figures of 4.9 and 5.1-litres/100km respectively, impressive.
Economy run expert Roger Rouessart and IGNITION TV presenter
Marius Roberts were behind the wheel while Richard Carstens from Motorsport
South Africa made sure that the lads didn’t sneak fuel along the way. The XF
driven by Marius Roberts used 64.461 litres while Roger Rouessart used 62.351
litres to complete the two-day run.
“Traditionally a
Johannesburg to Cape Town run is attempted but we wanted to do something
different to demonstrate the efficiency of our cars. Pretoria to Durban and
back is far more challenging in that one has to contend with the numerous toll
gate stops and high traffic volumes; however, the cars were up to the challenge
and completed the task with little fuss.” explains David Barns, Jaguar Brand
Manager.
The Jaguar 2.2-litre XF is capable of 140kW and 450Nm of
torque and can accelerate to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of
225km/h.
If you want to see exactly what happened, the effort will be
