The bigger and better Mazda BT-50 is now available in South
Africa and is aimed at those that are ‘young at heart’ and who lead adventurous
lifestyles, offering more luxury and comfort than the outgoing model, the BT-50
seems to have all the bases covered.
The BT-50 is available as a Single Cab, Double Cab and
Freestyle Cab and comes with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines that
are mated to either a 5-speed, manual, 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic
transmission.
The diesel line-up includes a 2.2-litre diesel engine with two power options offering 88kW and 110kW with 285Nm and 375Nm of torque respectively. The second diesel option comes in the form of a 3.2-litre diesel engine that produces 147kW and 470Nm of torque. The 2.5-litre DOHC petrol unit offers 122kW and 225Nm of torque.
The overall increase in size provides extra room for
comfortable seating and increased load capacity. Nine exterior colours are
available along with comprehensive safety features. Upholstery options include
vinyl, fabric and leather for specific models.
